Quick definition
Premium IV Vitamin Therapy at The Skin Doctor is a doctor-prescribed, medically supervised IV infusion service in our Ivanhoe IV lounge. Every infusion follows a pre-infusion medical screen, is prepared sterile with double-check protocols, and is administered with vital-signs monitoring by clinical staff. Formulations cover energy, recovery, hydration, immune support, skin and longevity (including NAD⁺ courses). This is an adjunct to sleep, nutrition and lifestyle — not a substitute for them, and not a walk-in drip-bar service. Iron deficiency goes via the iron infusions pathway, not this service.
Our IV vitamin therapy service provides medical-grade intravenous nutrients in a private clinical setting, with every treatment prescribed and overseen by a qualified medical practitioner. The lounge environment is calm, low-stimulus and designed for rest and recovery — but the safety infrastructure is medical, not cosmetic.
IV therapy may be appropriate for selected patients seeking support with fatigue, recovery, hydration, or confirmed nutrient depletion when oral supplementation is insufficient or poorly tolerated. Same-day bookings are often available after the pre-infusion screen.
Why a doctor-led IV service
Discreet, boutique environment. Private IV lounge in Ivanhoe with comfortable reclining chairs, calm low-stimulus setting designed for rest and recovery.
Doctor-led safety. All infusions are prescribed by a medical practitioner and administered in a clinical environment using sterile preparation and double-check protocols. Vital signs are checked during treatment and clinical staff are present throughout.
Personalised formulation. Infusion composition and optional boosters are selected based on your goals, medical history and — where appropriate — recent pathology. If pathology suggests a specific deficiency (e.g. iron), we route you to the correct pathway rather than offering a generic infusion.
Our IV infusion options
All infusions below include medical oversight and clinical nursing care. Suitability is confirmed at the pre-infusion screen — including kidney function or G6PD status where indicated for specific formulations.

What to expect on the day
Pre-treatment assessment. Brief medical review, vital signs and targeted screening (kidney function or G6PD status where indicated for specific formulations).
Your infusion. Prepared fresh using sterile technique and checked by two clinicians before cannulation. Administered slowly via a peripheral IV cannula.
During treatment. Relax in the IV lounge with vital-signs monitoring. Most patients read, work or rest during the infusion.
Aftercare. Many patients feel refreshed shortly after. Benefits may evolve over 24–48 hours. We provide written aftercare and recommend a brief review if symptoms persist.
Safety comes first
IV vitamin therapy is a medical procedure. All treatments are:
- prescribed by a doctor after a pre-infusion screen
- administered by trained clinical staff using sterile preparation
- performed with vital-signs monitoring and double-check protocols
- declined where contraindicated — we say no when IV is not suitable, and we will discuss alternatives instead
Book an IV vitamin infusion
If you would like medical guidance on whether IV vitamin therapy is appropriate for you, the booking panel in the sidebar takes you to the infusion appointment. A pre-infusion medical screen is included for first-time patients.

What to expect
-
Pre-infusion medical screen
Brief medical review covering symptoms, medical history, medications, supplements, allergies and pregnancy / breastfeeding status. Vital signs and targeted screening (kidney function or G6PD status where indicated) confirm suitability. We rule out contraindications before any infusion proceeds.
-
Formulation selection
The infusion formulation and any optional booster add-ons are selected based on your goals, screening results and — where relevant — recent pathology. Patients seeking IV iron specifically are routed to the iron infusions pathway instead.
-
Sterile preparation and double-check
Infusions are prepared fresh using sterile technique. Patient identity, formulation and dose are verified by two clinicians before cannulation.
-
Monitored infusion in the IV lounge
The infusion is administered slowly through a peripheral IV cannula in our monitored IV lounge over 30–60 minutes (longer for NAD⁺). Vital signs are checked during treatment and you are observed by clinical staff throughout.
-
Aftercare and follow-up
Written aftercare covers expected sensations and any rare reactions to monitor for. We recommend a brief review if symptoms persist or if a structured program (e.g. NAD⁺ course, methylation support) requires it.
Results timeline
- Day of infusion Most infusions run 30–60 minutes (NAD⁺ runs 2.5–3 hours). Plan slightly longer in clinic to allow for cannulation and observation. Many patients feel refreshed shortly after.
- 24–48 hours Benefits commonly evolve over the first day or two — energy, hydration and recovery improvements are typically clearer in this window than immediately post-infusion. Some patients notice mild headache, brief flushing or transient nausea that settles without specific treatment.
- Days to weeks For confirmed nutrient depletion (e.g. low B12 with neurological symptoms, low D3), a single infusion or booster can produce a measurable change on follow-up pathology. For wellness goals, benefit typically tracks alongside sleep, nutrition and stress management — IV therapy is an adjunct, not a substitute.
- Course-based programs (NAD⁺, methylation) Cellular and metabolic support programs (e.g. NAD⁺ Time-Defier course) are typically structured across multiple sessions, with goals and timing discussed at consultation.
Ideal candidate
- Adults seeking targeted micronutrient or hydration support after a doctor-led screen confirms suitability.
- Patients with confirmed nutrient depletion who do not absorb or tolerate oral supplementation.
- Travellers preparing for or recovering from long-haul flights, time-zone change or dehydration.
- Athletes and active patients seeking recovery support after intense training or competition.
- Patients recovering from acute illness or viral fatigue where oral hydration is insufficient.
- Patients on structured longevity or wellness programs incorporating NAD⁺ or methylation support.
- Patients with skin and hair concerns seeking adjunct micronutrient support alongside topical or in-clinic care.
- Patients who prefer a doctor-led IV service over walk-in beauty-clinic or non-medical drip-bar offerings.
Frequently asked questions
-
Is this the same as the iron infusion service?
No — different pathway. This page is for prescribed IV vitamin and micronutrient infusions (multivitamin, NAD⁺, immune, hydration, skin-support and recovery formulations). If you have confirmed iron deficiency on pathology and want IV iron, you go via the iron infusions page — that service has its own pathology-first requirements and same-day pathway. The two services share an IV lounge and a doctor-led safety model but are not interchangeable. -
Do I need a consultation before IV vitamin therapy?
Yes. A brief medical assessment is required to confirm suitability and safety. We review your symptoms, medical history, medications, supplements and allergies, and check vital signs and targeted screening (kidney function or G6PD status) where indicated. Some formulations — particularly high-dose vitamin C — require specific screening before they can be safely administered. -
Are IV vitamin infusions safe?
When prescribed appropriately and administered in a medical setting, IV infusions are generally safe. Common side effects include mild headache, brief flushing, transient nausea or a metallic taste during infusion. Cannulation-site bruising is common. Serious reactions are rare but possible — which is why we use sterile preparation, double-check protocols, vital-signs monitoring during the infusion, and trained clinical staff with resuscitation equipment available. Non-medical drip bars do not offer this level of safety infrastructure. -
How quickly will I feel the effects?
Many patients feel refreshed shortly after treatment. For most formulations, benefits evolve over the first 24–48 hours as nutrients are taken up and used by cells. Responses vary substantially between patients. For genuine nutrient depletion confirmed on pathology, the change is more reliable; for wellness goals, response depends heavily on sleep, nutrition, stress and underlying health. -
Can IV therapy replace a healthy diet, sleep and exercise?
No. IV therapy is not a substitute for nutrition, sleep, stress management and lifestyle measures. It may be used as a supportive adjunct in selected cases — including confirmed nutrient depletion, recovery from illness or travel, structured longevity programs, or when oral supplementation is insufficient or poorly tolerated. We are honest about this at consultation rather than overselling outcomes. -
Is IV vitamin therapy appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Most elective IV vitamin formulations are deferred during pregnancy unless there is a specific clinical indication and shared care with your obstetric provider. Selected formulations (e.g. hydration support during hyperemesis) may be appropriate in specific contexts. High-dose vitamin C is not given without specific screening, and some boosters are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. This is assessed individually at consultation rather than via a blanket policy. -
When is IV vitamin therapy NOT the right treatment?
IV vitamin therapy is not appropriate for: significant kidney or heart disease without specialist clearance; G6PD deficiency without specific screening (high-dose vitamin C is contraindicated); active untreated infection where infusion would delay correct treatment; patients seeking IV iron (route to iron infusions instead); patients expecting IV therapy to substitute for medical investigation of symptoms (e.g. persistent fatigue without a workup); or patients seeking outcomes outside the realistic adjunct framing above. All of this is assessed at consultation. -
Are prices indicative — and do you charge a consultation fee?
Prices shown on this page are indicative for the listed infusions and may change. The pre-infusion medical screen is included in the infusion appointment for first-time patients. Booster add-ons are priced separately and confirmed at consultation. We provide a written quote for any course-based program (e.g. NAD⁺) before treatment begins.
