What is laser for active Acne Scarring?
This treatment uses a combination of laser wavelengths to improve active inflammatory acne spots, as well as targeting scarring. A consultation with a doctor is needed to discuss the medical management of acne prior to laser therapy. This therapy can be used with or without medical treatments for acne, however, a combination therapy usually yields the best results. A medical consult is required to ensure adequate skin prep and discuss treatment and expectations.
This treatment is performed in the following order:
1. Step 1: anti-inflammatory laser to target active, inflamed sebaceous glands and “pimples”.
2. Step 2: resurfacing laser is used to remove micro-thin layers of the skin, so that new skin can form in its place. This is very controlled and allows for a much gentler and targeted approach
