Quick definition

Skin peels and facials at The Skin Doctor are medical-grade clinical treatments delivered by trained dermal clinicians — not generic spa facials. The menu covers brightening, hydration, lymphatic drainage, oxygenation and resurfacing, with five core offerings: PRIN lymphatic therapy, superficial peel + LED, custom Aspect™ facial, Société oxygenation, and PCA / Dermaceutic professional peels. Selection is matched to your skin type, concern, downtime tolerance and event timing. Most facials have no downtime; deeper peels may show 1–7 days of flaking. Often staged within a longer collagen, pigmentation or acne plan rather than used standalone. Adapted carefully for melanin-rich skin via the Skin of Colour Clinic.

At The Skin Doctor, skin peels and facials are designed to do more than pamper. They deliver real, visible skin improvements while supporting long-term skin health.

Whether you are preparing for an event, addressing congestion or pigmentation, or maintaining healthy skin over time, our treatments combine medical-grade formulations, dermal expertise and a refined clinical experience.

All treatments are selected and delivered with skin biology, safety and results in mind.

Our facial and peel menu

PRIN lymphatic therapy facial

A cult-favourite treatment that supports circulation, lymphatic drainage and skin firmness using a specialised mask that works with the body’s natural systems. You may feel a gentle pulsing sensation as blood flow and lymphatic movement are stimulated, leaving skin smoother, more sculpted and visibly refreshed.

  • Ideal for: dull, congested, hormonal or sensitive skin
  • Downtime: none — immediate glow

Often chosen alongside Collagen stimulation → to enhance skin tone and support firmness.

Superficial peel (with optional LED therapy)

A light, refreshing peel that removes surface dead skin cells, smooths texture and enhances absorption of active skincare. LED therapy may be added to calm redness, support collagen activity and improve overall skin comfort.

  • Ideal for: mild congestion, uneven texture, early fine lines
  • Downtime: minimal — mild redness or subtle flaking for 1–2 days

Often part of a broader plan for acne treatments → or early pigmentation management via pigmentation consultation →.

Custom Aspect™ facial

A fully personalised 40-minute treatment using professional-grade Aspect™ skincare. Includes gentle exfoliation, targeted mask selection, LED therapy and a relaxing facial massage. Designed as a regular maintenance facial to keep skin hydrated, balanced and resilient.

  • Ideal for: ongoing skin health and maintenance
  • Downtime: none

Often used as monthly maintenance alongside Collagen stimulation → or following more intensive treatments.

Société oxygenation facial

A specialised oxygen-infusing treatment that instantly brightens and refreshes the complexion. Skin appears smoother, clearer and more hydrated immediately after treatment.

  • Ideal for: pre-event radiance, smoker’s complexion, mild breakouts
  • Downtime: none

Often selected as a supportive treatment alongside acne treatments → for patients managing mild acne or congestion.

PCA & Dermaceutic professional peels

Medical-grade peels selected to address deeper or more persistent skin concerns. Options range from gentle brightening peels to more intensive resurfacing formulas, chosen based on skin type, concern and acceptable downtime.

  • Ideal for: pigmentation, acne, sun damage, fine lines, uneven texture
  • Downtime: varies — from none to a few days of light flaking

Commonly recommended following a pigmentation consultation → or as part of structured acne treatments →.

What to expect

  1. Skin assessment

Your dermal clinician reviews your skin history, current concerns, prior cosmetic treatments, medications (including photosensitisers and retinoids) and any active inflammation before selecting an appropriate facial or peel.

  2. Treatment selection

The right modality is matched to your skin — PRIN lymphatic, superficial peel + LED, custom Aspect™ facial, Société oxygenation, or PCA/Dermaceutic professional peel. Intensity is calibrated to skin sensitivity and downtime tolerance.

  3. In-clinic treatment

Cleanse, exfoliation or active peel, optional LED therapy, targeted mask or oxygenation, hydration and SPF. Treatments typically run 40–75 minutes depending on selection.

  4. Aftercare guidance

A take-home plan — gentle skincare for 5–7 days, daily SPF 50+, retinoid pause where indicated, and a recommended interval before the next session. Maintenance schedule (typically monthly for facials, every 4–6 weeks for peels) is mapped out.

Results timeline

  • Immediately Most facials and superficial peels show a visible glow, smoother texture and brighter tone within minutes of treatment.
  • 24–72 hours Any mild redness or fine flaking settles. Deeper peels show light peeling at this point — usually unobtrusive — and the post-peel glow emerges.
  • 1–2 weeks Professional-grade peels (PCA, Dermaceutic) show meaningful change in tone, clarity, congestion and texture. Pigmentation improvements may continue building over several weeks.
  • Monthly maintenance Most patients see best results from a regular cadence (monthly facial, peel every 4–6 weeks) integrated into a broader collagen, pigmentation or acne plan.

Ideal candidate

  • Dull, congested or dehydrated skin needing a clinical refresh
  • Mild acne, hormonal breakouts or post-acne pigmentation alongside a broader plan
  • Early pigmentation, sun damage and uneven tone where laser is not yet appropriate
  • Fine lines, early texture change and loss of luminosity
  • Pre-event preparation (1–2 weeks before) for visible glow and smoother texture
  • Monthly skin maintenance to support a longer-term collagen, pigmentation or acne plan
  • Sensitive or barrier-compromised skin where lower-intensity options can be selected
  • Suitable for most Fitzpatrick skin types — adapted carefully via the Skin of Colour Clinic for melanin-rich skin

Frequently asked questions

  • Are facials and peels suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes — many treatments on our menu have lower-intensity options for sensitive or barrier-compromised skin, and the PRIN lymphatic facial is often well tolerated by patients with reactive or rosacea-prone skin. Selection is done at the visit based on a quick skin assessment, current barrier status and any active inflammation. If a particular peel would risk a flare, we will say so and offer an alternative.
  • How often can I have a facial or peel?
Maintenance facials are typically performed monthly — they are designed to be repeated consistently without compromising the barrier. Professional-grade peels (PCA, Dermaceutic) are usually spaced every 4–6 weeks depending on intensity and skin response. Superficial peels with LED can be done every 2–4 weeks for active acne or pigmentation pathways. The exact cadence is mapped to your skin and goals at the visit.
  • Will my skin peel after a chemical peel?
It depends on the formulation. Light superficial peels often cause mild flaking for 1–2 days; many patients have very little visible peeling. Medium-strength professional peels (PCA, Dermaceutic) can cause more visible flaking over 3–7 days. The expected downtime is always discussed before treatment — surprise peeling is not the goal.
  • Can facials and peels help with acne or pigmentation?
Yes, when selected appropriately. Superficial salicylic-acid peels help with active comedonal acne and congestion. Mandelic and low-glycolic peels can support pigmentation management in sensitive or pigment-prone skin. PCA/Dermaceutic professional peels offer deeper resurfacing for stubborn pigmentation or sun damage. Facials and peels are usually staged alongside topical or in-clinic plans rather than as standalone acne or pigmentation treatment.
  • What's the difference between a clinic facial and a beauty-salon facial?
The medical-grade products, the dermal clinician's training, and the clinical context. Our facials use professional-strength formulations (Aspect™, iS Clinical, PRIN, Société, PCA, Dermaceutic) that aren't available retail, delivered by trained dermal clinicians who can assess your skin, identify medical issues that need a doctor's input, and integrate the facial into a broader skin plan. The experience is still relaxing, but the goal is real measurable change in skin quality.
  • When should I avoid a peel or facial?
Avoid procedural facials and peels during active eczema flares, infected acne, active cold sores, recent laser or fractional resurfacing (within 2 weeks), recent injectables in the area (within 1 week), known allergies to active ingredients, current isotretinoin use (or within 6 months of stopping it for ablative work), and pregnancy for selected formulations. Disclose your full medical and skincare history at the visit so we can choose safely.
  • How soon before an event should I book a facial?
Most clinical facials (PRIN lymphatic, Société oxygenation, custom Aspect) are ideal 24–72 hours before an event — the immediate glow is the goal. Superficial peels with LED should be 5–7 days before to allow any flaking to settle. Professional-grade peels (PCA, Dermaceutic) need 10–14 days clear of an important event to allow visible peeling to finish. We will sequence this around your event timing at booking.
  • Is this suitable for melanin-rich (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) skin?
Yes, with appropriate product selection. Lower-intensity options (mandelic acid peels, PRIN lymphatic, custom Aspect facials, gentle Société oxygenation) work well across all skin types. Higher-intensity peels are used more cautiously and at modified concentrations in melanin-rich skin to reduce post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation risk. Care is delivered through our Skin of Colour Clinic when a tailored pigment-safe plan is needed.
